As this is a game set loosely in Regency England, we want to know how your character will adapt to this setting. How might they react to the culture and societal expectations placed upon them as a member of the upper class?:
Dorian actually has plenty of experience navigating the life of a socialite. Originally born as Brontë Secondsun Wyvernwind, Dorian is the youngest child of a prominent and wealthy family who are a source of guidance and provide advice for their fractured people of the Air Genasi. Second in line to inherit his family's position and wealth, Dorian had lived dealing with the expectations of his people and his family for a majority of his life. And while he might not agree with certain restrictions of society, nor does he enjoy being under such scrutiny, he does understand how people of the upper class think and operate, and is able to at least act accodingly enough to blend in with the people around him, even while perhaps finding little ways to quietly rebel under that system.
And while he dislikes the expectations of the society, he does enjoy the luxuries that the upper class provide. Despite his time adventuring as a humble bard, Dorian still appreciates all the fineries that can only be obtained through the lifestyle of the wealthy. He enjoys fashion, clothing and accessorizing, and shopping in general, as well as trips to the spa and attending balls. Being able to keep up at least his physical appearance will not only be the easiest thing he'll do, but probably the most exciting part for him.
You've been invited to a formal dinner! How charming! Now, how do you plan to conduct yourself in such a space? Remember, appearance is everything!:
Is that so? That certainly is generous. Well, the first thing to do is send a reply to the hosts letting them know I'll be in attendance, so they can have an accurate head count of who will be there. Perhaps inquire whether they'd like guests to bring something. It's typically considered polite to bring even just a bottle of wine, but there are some hosts who would take it as an offense, seeing it as an implication that they aren't able to provide everything for their guests. The last thing you'd want is to be the subject of any ire, because that's when rumors start to spread.
Because these sorts of people certainly do love their gossip. And don't get me wrong, it can be useful for gathering information on occasion, depending on the kind you're looking for. But as much as they love to listen to and spread rumors, no one ever wants to be the center of them. Unfortunately they will gossip on just about anything, and even the most boring person in the world can be the target for the rumor mill, simply for being boring. Believe me, nothing is above discussion for these sorts of people.
So as unavoidable as conversation will be, the best way to avoid becoming a focus is to not give too much information. Provide answers to questions when asked, of course, because giving too little information will also draw notice. But never offer more information than strictly necessary. It won't completely prevent any gossip from spreading, but it does help mitigate some of the worst of people's attention.
